Java – Object Serialization – In this Java tutorial, I will show you how you can implement the serializable interface on a class. This will enable you to be able to convert your object to binary, for whatever reason, and because that object implements serializable interface, you will be able to convert that binary file back into the same format that it was displayed in before.

Good tutorial ,but what is the main use of serialization/deserialization in Java? I read for storing objects into databases, or storing states, or sending data over as objects in a network. What is the MOST common use-case for deserializing an object to a binary file? I still don't get the main use of it.

I am trying to make changes to an already created file and the changes won't save to the file even when I serialize the new object. How do you change already serialized objects? I know that you overwrite the file or something, but I would like a better explanation on how to do that.
